supplier, we were given the opportunity to be involved with the new, soon to be LEED Gold certified, Riverside, CA restaurant. The owner's vision of a fresh, bright and extremely sustainable building was thoroughly displayed in all aspects of the building's interior and exterior.

CHi's design and manufacturing teams created an interior that exudes sustainability in a light, refreshing manner with environmentally friendly materials and pops of bright colors. All of our specified products use substrate materials that are free of urea-formaldehydeA colorless gas found in adhesives used in particleboard and sealants. Products releasing high levels of urea-formaldehyde can cause eye irritation and respiratory problems., (a LEED requirement) and many contain percentages of recycled content which will help the building achieve its LEED certification.

The service counter and recycling center tops use Vetrazzo, a mixture of concrete and recycled glass gathered from curb-side recycling programs. The lounge chairs and bar stools are formed with our Fiberflec material, an infusion of polypropylene resin and recycled wood fibers. Many tiles specified for the floor and walls also contain percentages of recycled content.

To comply with interior air quality LEED credits, all adhesives, coatings, and paints used are low in VOCsVolatile organic compounds (VOCs), found in paints and adhesives, are chemicals that vaporize at room temperature and can be hazardous to installers and occupants. (volatile organic compounds) which are harmful to inhabitants and can be linked to causing cancer. All laminates and flooring materials used within the project are GreenGuard certifiedAn institute that tests and certifies products to meet indoor air quality standards.
